Maction Planet announces launch of Tokyo ON website

PRESS RELEASE: Maction Planet is excited to announce the launch of the Tokyo ON website, focusing on Japanese music and culture.

Tokyo, Japan, Aug. 3rd 2018 – Maction Planet, which provides top-ranked fully customized private tours in Tokyo and beyond, is proud to announce the launch of the Tokyo ON website. In development for the last nine months, the Tokyo ON website complements Maction Planet with a vast library of podcasts, DJ mixes, music articles and artist interviews to increase understanding and awareness of Japanese music as well as enhance the experience of Maction Planet Tokyo Private Tour guests.

Discovering that tour clients wanted to continue learning about the cultural history of Japan and depths of its music, Maction Planet started the Tokyo ON podcast in 2017 as a way of bringing the current and historical trends of music in Japan to listeners in English, built upon the collective knowledge of the Maction Planet team. Hosted by Maction Planet Resident DJ Royce Leong, with frequent guest appearances and special episodes by Mac, Founder and Lead Guide of Maction Planet, the Tokyo ON podcast is available on streaming site Mixcloud. Each episode runs for approximately 30 minutes, contains at least six songs in full and can be listened to for free. Over 40 episodes have been produced so far, covering everything from traditional folk songs and 1960’s Group Sounds rock ‘n roll to 80’s city pop, Shibuya-kei, electro synthpop, house, hip-hop and the independent scene.

The Tokyo ON website builds on this foundation and features expanded content related to Tokyo ON radio shows, articles on new music releases, exclusive interviews with Japanese artists and more. The Tokyo ON blog highlights lifestyle content such as cafe and restaurant reviews.

Mac, Founder and Lead Guide of Maction Planet, said “At the core of Maction Planet is a desire to deliver the best of the World’s Greatest Metropolis, Tokyo, to the world. That is the ethos from which Maction Planet Radio was born. The new Tokyo ON website allows us to continue expanding this vision with concert previews, albums reviews and more Tokyo lifestyle content.”

“Our mission is to explore the past, present and future of Japanese music to provide new experiences and interesting insights for listeners and readers. So far we’ve introduced over a hundred artists through hundreds of songs across eras and genres, with an emphasis on talent not widely known outside Japan,” said Royce, Maction Planet Resident DJ and Producer of Tokyo ON. “In future, we hope to continue expanding through this website and our other channels, so that more people will be able to enjoy the diverse value of Japanese music and culture.”
