36 photos from the 2017 Pikachu Outbreak

This year’s Pikachu Outbreak, the fourth of its kind, was held in Yokohama from 9 to 15 August. We present 36 incredible shots from this year’s madness.
The official title of the 2017 event was ピカチュウだけじゃない ピカチュウ大量発生チュウ! (Pikachu Dake Ja Nai Pikachu Tairyo Hasseichu!), the ‘Not Just Pikachu – Pikachu Outbreak!’. One aspect of this ‘not-just-Pikachu-ness’ took the form of Mimikyu, a Pokemon newcomer first introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon, released in November 2016, who took part in the Pikachu Carnival Parade on 14 August.
However, the real star of the show was of course Pikachu – all of them. Whether roaming the streets greeting fans, performing in Hawaiian costume on stage, staring at the masses from the side of buildings, cars and blimps, or lording it over his flock, he was everywhere.
All photos were taken by the Maction Planet team during a ‘Beyond Tokyo: Yokohama‘ private tour on 13 August for the benefit and enjoyment of our guests. They are used here with their permission, as they were more than happy to share the love with the rest of the world. Enjoy!
